Hello and Welcome!

You are now viewing the personal web site of one Christopher L. Grundemann, better known as Chris. You can find a brief biography and a little about him here. This site is a personal project of Chris' and has been designed and developed by and for himself. All of this work is being done with three general objectives; organization, self-expression and education. In the long term, if we are lucky, there may be the possibility that this site also contributes to revelation or even revolution. But we are getting ahead of ourselves.

Organization

One of the primary objectives of this site is to enhance the organization of Chris' thoughts and interests. It will serve as a jumping off point to articles, to images, to video and music, to many other sites all over the Internet, the globe, and the spectrum of Chris' interests. It will also serve as a home for Chris' own input into these discussions and topics. A place to gather pictures, videos and thoughts.

This illustrates the general structure of the site as a whole. It is basically divided into two types of content; that created by Chris or that which interests Chris (mostly links to such content). If you do not share any of Chris' interests or passions, this site will be of absolutely no use to you - thanks for stopping by. It should be noted however that Chris is quite a dynamic person who's primary fault in many cases has been having too many interests. Trying to engage in too many different arenas, etc. Therefore, if you have made it this far, you might as well look around. You may be surprised.

Self-Expression

As noted above, most of the content on this site is the work of Chris (including this text of course). Anything not otherwise labeled or noted can be assumed to have been created by Chris. Artistically, Chris' main talent is in writing (or so he believes) and thus a web site is a great place to express his self (if indeed such a thing actually exists). Of course the design and layout of the site itself is another form of self-expression. Chris also occasionally dabbles in digital music and video editing. All of these activities are unique in that they can be performed directly on a computer. Their results are inherently displayed in this digital medium but they are not the limit of Chris' interests. What of things beyond the keyboard? Luckily almost every other activity or form of self-expression can be captured in image, video or sound and then reproduced into the digital domain. That fact makes a web site the only option when looking for a single location to house, well, everything - everything important anyway ;).

Education

The primary education we speak of here is Chris' (as you may have guessed by now). But there is the possibility that something here may contribute to your learning as well. The hope is that we all learn something.

Learning about the Web

Chris believes strongly in the power and importance of the Internet and therefor feels that it is necessary to be fluent in its language. So the question arises; how to best learn the mechanics of displaying information on the Internet? Not being a big fan of school (time, pace, cost), Chris chose (as he often does) to dive in head first. Luckily he happens to be quite boyent in most substances ;). Because this site is partially an exersize in web site self-education, it may at times be discontiguous as new methods and technologies are experimented with. Please be patient and enjoy.

Learning from the Web

Chris is deeply passionet about education and learning in general. He believes that free thought, free speach and the free flow of ideas is crucial to our evolution as a species. This is why he places such importance on the Internet. For the first time in history, knowledge is no longer in the hands solely of the powerful and wealthy. Authors, artists and philosophers have the ability to reach out to much of the world (and to each other) on a scale unimaginable just a few decades ago. You now have the power to seak multiple sources of information, to expose yourself to a pelethera of views, slants and takes on almost every topic, both current and historical. We are quite possibly at the dawn of a golden age, another reniessance; a digital awakening to a cultural dialogue. Chris would like to take part in this new conversation. With an open mind and a library card, much is possible. With an open mind and an Internet connection even more because the communication becomes two way. Instead of just reading about things that interest him, Chris wants to take part in the development and advancement (or discouragment) of those ideas. This is his platform.
